We believe God’s Word offers TRUTH. It is difficult to embrace truth when we are bombarded with lies in our minds. The lies are often so persistent that we get weary and stop fighting against them or begin to believe them.

In stressful situations, it’s tempting to listen to the lies even more and unlikely that we will remember what God says about us….which means we can’t wait until the stress starts! Instead, we need to “practice truth” on a regular basis, so that when stress comes, we will be ready. This can be done through a “Truth Statement”- 3-4 lines that are formed based on an understanding of a word in God’s Word which refutes lies and reflects God’s truth. Repeat the Truth Statement as often as possible so it will be cemented before stress hits!

Today’s Word

TRUE: The Greek word “alethes”.

“Finally brothers, whatever is TRUE, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Philippians 4:8



KEEP IT REAL- WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY?  

Other Scriptures where the word “TRUE” is used include:

John 1:9 (NIV)
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

Revelation 21:5 (NIV)
He who is seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

1 John 5:20 (NIV)
We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true- even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

1 John 2:8 (NIV)
Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.



KEEP IT SIMPLE- WHAT DOES THE WORD MEAN?

From these Scriptures, we find the word TRUE (“Alethes”) means:

  1. Trustworthy
    God is the credible source of truth.

  2. Reliable
    God is dependable.

  3. Genuine
    God is real.

  4. Valid
    God can be proven.





KEEP IT MOVING- WHAT DO I DO WITH THE WORD?  


Here is a truth statement to repeat over the next week based on the word “TRUE”. Put it on your phone, write it down,- whatever you need to do to remember it:


People will fail me, but I can count on God.

I can’t rely on the shifting nature of my emotions, but I can depend on God.

God is the “real deal”. He never changes.

When I doubt, I will ask God for help and ask others to remind me that He can be trusted.
