We believe God’s Word offers TRUTH. It is difficult to embrace truth when we are bombarded with lies in our minds. The lies are often so persistent that we get weary and stop fighting against them or begin to believe them.

In stressful situations, it’s tempting to listen to the lies even more and unlikely that we will remember what God says about us….which means we can’t wait until the stress starts! Instead, we need to “practice truth” on a regular basis, so that when stress comes, we will be ready. This can be done through a “Truth Statement”- 3-4 lines that are formed based on an understanding of a word in God’s Word which refutes lies and reflects God’s truth. Repeat the Truth Statement as often as possible so it will be cemented before stress hits!

Today’s Word

RIGHT: The Greek word “dikaios”.

“Finally brothers, whatever is true whatever is noble, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Philippians 4:8

KEEP IT REAL- WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY?

Other Scriptures where the word “RIGHT” is used include:

Romans 5:19 (NIV)
For just as through the disobedience of the one man (Adam) the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man (Jesus) the many will be made righteous.

Luke 23:50-54 (NIV)
Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin

1 John 1:9 (NIV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

KEEP IT SIMPLE- WHAT DOES THE WORD MEAN?

From these Scriptures, we find the word RIGHT (“Dikaios”) means:

  1. Righteous
    Innocence granted only through Jesus.

  2. Upright
    A faithfulness to God’s commands.

  3. Just
    Unwavering standard.

KEEP IT MOVING- WHAT DO I DO WITH THE WORD?

Here is a truth statement to repeat and practice over the next 3 weeks based on the word “RIGHT”. Post it, write it down- whatever helps you to remember it:

Because of Jesus, I get a clean slate every day.

I can ask for help from the Holy Spirit to do the right thing at any given moment.

Even when things feel chaotic, I can trust that God’s way is good.
