possible

We believe God’s Word offers TRUTH. It is difficult to embrace truth when we are bombarded with lies in our minds. The lies are often so persistent that we get weary and stop fighting against them or begin to believe them.

In stressful situations, it’s tempting to listen to the lies even more and unlikely that we will remember what God says about us….which means we can’t wait until the stress starts! Instead, we need to “practice truth” on a regular basis, so that when stress comes, we will be ready. This can be done through a “Truth Statement”- 3-4 lines that are formed based on an understanding of a word in God’s Word which refutes lies and reflects God’s truth. Repeat the Truth Statement as often as possible so it will be cemented before stress hits!

Today’s Word

POSSIBLE: The Greek word “ dynatos”.

“Jesus replied, ‘What is impossible with men is possible with God.’” Luke 18:27

KEEP IT REAL- WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY?

Other Scriptures where the word “POSSIBLE” is used include:

Matthew 26:36-39 (NIV)
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Mark 9:20-24 (NIV)
So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Romans 12:17-21 (NIV)
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is
possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

KEEP IT SIMPLE- WHAT DOES THE WORD MEAN?

From these Scriptures, we find the word POSSIBLE (“dynatos”) means:

  1. Could
    Alternative option.

  2. Able
    Power in action.

  3. Can
    Within reach.

KEEP IT MOVING- WHAT DO I DO WITH THE WORD?

Here is a truth statement to repeat and practice over the next 3 weeks based on the word “POSSIBLE”. Post it, write it down- whatever helps you to remember it:

When I feel stuck, I always have options.

When my circumstances are difficult, I will choose to do the next best thing.

When I acknowledge my weaknesses, God helps me to do what I can’t do alone.
